Kenneth Scarratt presenta la nuova Accademia CIBJO
Venerdì 23 febbraio al Centro Nazionale Congressi Queen Sikrit, durante la 69.a edizione di Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, Kenneth Scarratt presenterà il programma della nuova Accademia CIBJO.
Istituita nel 2023, la CIBJO Academy si occupa di preparare programmi e materiali educativi adatti ai professionisti della gioielleria e ai consumatori. I temi trattati sono gli standard, i principi operativi e terminologia sviluppati nelle varie commissioni e durante i comitati di esperti della CIBJO, della quale Scarratt è il decano fondatore.
Il materiale didattico è costituito dai vari CIBJO Blue Books e dalle guide, relative all’intero spettro dell’industria delle gemme e dei gioielli: diamanti naturali, diamanti coltivati in laboratorio, gemme colorate, perle, corallo, metalli preziosi, i principi dell’approvvigionamento responsabile, il funzionamento dei laboratori gemmologici, il marketing, l’etica e le questioni legali.

Siamo molto fortunati ad avere un esperto di livello mondiale del calibro di Ken Scarratt alla guida del nuovo organismo”.
Scarratt è uno dei più importanti gemmologi al mondo. È stato amministratore delegato del Bahrain Institute of Pearls & Gemstones (DANAT), amministratore delegato per l’Asia meridionale del Gemological Institute of America (GIA), direttore di laboratorio dell’AGTA (American Gem Trade Association) Gemological Testing Center di New York, direttore dell’AIGS (Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences) di Bangkok, amministratore delegato e direttore di laboratorio del GAGTL (Gemmological Association & Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain) di Londra e socio amministratore dell’ICA|GemLab di Bangkok. Ha pubblicato numerosi articoli su riviste come The Journal of Gemmology (Regno Unito), Gems and Gemology (USA). È coautore dei libri “The Crown Jewels” e “The Pearl & the Dragon”. È inoltre presidente del Settore A della CIBJO, che supervisiona tutti i materiali delle gemme, presidente della Commissione perle della CIBJO e vicepresidente della Commissione corallo.
Kenneth Scarratt presents the new CIBJO Academy
On Friday 23 February at the Queen Sikrit National Conference Centre, during the 69th edition of Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, Kenneth Scarratt will present the program of the new CIBJO Academy. Established in 2023, the CIBJO Academy is responsible for preparing educational programs and materials suitable for jewelry professionals and consumers. The topics covered are the standards, operational principles and terminology developed in the various commissions and during the expert committees of CIBJO, of which Scarratt is the founding dean. The educational material consists of the various CIBJO Blue Books and guides, covering the entire spectrum of the gem and jewelry industry: natural diamonds, laboratory-grown diamonds, colored gems, pearls, coral, precious metals, the principles of responsible sourcing, the operation of gemological laboratories, marketing, ethics and legal issues.
The CIBJO Academy was created to make accessible to the jewelry industry the enormous body of work, including business standards and principles, harmonized terminology and nomenclature, produced, refined and constantly updated by the various commissions and special committees operating under the umbrella of our World Jewelery Confederation – explained the President of CIBJO, Gaetano Cavalieri -. We are very fortunate to have a world-class expert of Ken Scarratt leading the new body.”
Scarratt is one of the world’s leading gemologists. He was CEO of the Bahrain Institute of Pearls & Gemstones (DANAT), CEO for South Asia of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Laboratory Director of the AGTA (American Gem Trade Association) Gemological Testing Center in New York, director of the AIGS (Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences) in Bangkok, managing director and laboratory director of the GAGTL (Gemmological Association & Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain) in London and managing partner of the ICA | GemLab in Bangkok. He has published numerous articles in journals such as The Journal of Gemmology (UK), Gems and Gemology (USA). He is co-author of the books “The Crown Jewels” and “The Pearl & the Dragon”. He is also president of CIBJO’s Sector A, which supervises all gem materials, president of CIBJO’s Pearl Commission and vice president of the Coral Commission.
