Casa IED New York: il nuovo crocevia del design e della cultura

È stato inaugurato oggi 6 novembre ed è dedicato alla creatività globale

Uno spazio, il primo, che l’Istituto Europeo di Design dedica allo scambio culturale e alla creazione di sinergie tra designer e territorio. È Casa IED. È a Nwe York. È un luogo di incontro per costruire nuovi linguaggi del design.

“IED è una rete di scuole fondata sulla pluralità di voci e sul legame con i territori. Un ecosistema fatto di sedi, Alumni Chapter nelle grandi città e comunità locali. Casa IED diventa un nuovo nodo di questa rete: un luogo per entrare in contatto con le persone, arricchire la community, diffondere conoscenza e alimentare l’intelligenza collettiva. Il debutto è in collaborazione con Salotto (salotto.nyc) – un laboratorio di idee e centro di aggregazione culturale dove prendono forma progetti innovativi ed eventi non convenzionali, un collettivo di quattordici progettisti italiani residenti a New York che operano in diversi ambiti creativi, tra i fondatori, Gabriel Zangari – diplomato IED Milano in Industrial Design nel 2004 – è anche leader del primo Alumni Chapter di IED a New York, una rete locale che collega ex studenti e professionisti, promuovendo eventi, notizie e scambi di esperienze nel campo del design sistemico.
Come Società Benefit e realtà appartenente alla Fondazione Francesco Morelli, organizzazione no profit impegnata nella promozione del design come motore di crescita sociale, l’Istituto Europeo di Design lancia con Casa IED un nuovo modello di restituzione del sapere alla collettività attraverso un public program fatto di panel, lecture e workshop e talk, il primo è dedicato al tema dell’intelligenza plurale, con la partecipazione di Riccardo Balbo e Nicolas Heller, regista e documentarista conosciuto online come @newyorknico.

Casa IED New York: the new crossroads of design and culture
A space dedicated to global creativity

A space, the first of its kind, that the European Institute of Design has dedicated to cultural exchange and the creation of synergies between designers and the local area. It is Casa IED. It is in New York. It is a meeting place for building new languages of design.
“IED is a network of schools founded on plurality of voices and ties with local communities. An ecosystem made up of campuses, Alumni Chapters in major cities, and local communities. Casa IED becomes a new node in this network: a place to connect with people, enrich the community, spread knowledge, and nurture collective intelligence. The debut is in collaboration with Salotto (salotto.nyc) – a laboratory of ideas and cultural gathering place where innovative projects and unconventional events take shape, a collective of fourteen Italian designers residing in New York who work in various creative fields. Among the founders is Gabriel Zangari – who graduated from IED Milan in Industrial Design in 2004 – is also the leader of the first IED Alumni Chapter in New York, a local network that connects former students and professionals, promoting events, news, and exchanges of experiences in the field of systemic design.
As a Benefit Corporation and part of the Francesco Morelli Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to promoting design as a driver of social growth, the European Institute of Design is launching Casa IED, a new model for giving back knowledge to the community through a public program consisting of panels, lectures, workshops, and talks. The first is dedicated to the theme of plural intelligence, with the participation of Riccardo Balbo and Nicolas Heller, a director and documentary filmmaker known online as @newyorknico.
