Di tutti i diamanti sottoposti al Gemological Institute of America, meno del 3% sono classificati come diamanti colorati e di questi meno del 5% sono considerati prevalentemente rosa, ovvero meno dello 0,15% di tutti i diamanti classificati dal GIA. Tra quelli classificati come rosa, solo una piccolissima percentuale ha un colore abbastanza intenso da essere classificato come “Fancy Vivid Pink”, la maggior parte dei quali ha un peso inferiore a 1 carato. Si stima che i diamanti rosa vivido costituiscano una frazione dello 0,0001% dell’offerta mondiale di diamanti.

Con oltre dieci carati, questa pietra è tra le più rare in assoluto, paragonabile ai celebri diamanti rosa che hanno stabilito record nelle aste internazionali: il Williamson Pink Star (11,15 carati) venduto da Sotheby’s Hong Kong nel 2022 per 57,7 milioni di dollari e the Eternal Pink (10,57 carati) venduto da Sotheby’s New York nel 2023 per 34,8 milioni di dollari.

The Glowing Rose, magnifico diamante Fancy Vivid Pink da 10,08 carati, proviene da un grezzo da 21 carati estratto nel 2023 in modo responsabile in Angola e commercializzato secondo il Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. Per la capacità di esaltare al meglio la saturazione cromatica e la brillantezza del diamante, è stato scelto il taglio a cuscino (è il terzo diamante taglio cuscino rosa vivido di oltre 10 carati ad arrivare sul mercato negli ultimi 10 anni) poiché i suoi angoli arrotondati e la disposizione unica delle sfaccettature amplificano la profondità e il calore della tonalità.

Sarà venduto il 12 novembre nell’ambito dell’asta di alta gioielleria di Sotheby’s, al Mandarin Oriental di Ginevra, con una stima di circa 20 milioni di dollari / 16 milioni di franchi svizzeri. Prima dell’asta, The Glowing Rose sarà esposto a Singapore il 17 e 18 ottobre e a Taipei il 23 e 24 ottobre, in una montatura appositamente progettata dal gioielliere britannico Boodles, tra i principali fornitori mondiali di diamanti rosa, un motivo geometrico a stella sulla griffe, che si alza dal dito ed è incastonato con diamanti rosa Argyle per rispecchiare la gemma. La fascia in platino presenta diamanti bianchi taglio baguette e brillante che scorrono intorno al dito. Un sottile motivo a chevron di diamanti rosa all’estremità della fila di diamanti bianchi aggiunge un tocco finale.

The magnificent 10.08 ct Fancy Vivid Pink diamond, set in a ring designed by British jeweler Boodles

Of all diamonds submitted to the Gemological Institute of America, less than 3% are classified as colored diamonds, and of these, less than 5% are considered predominantly pink, which is less than 0.15% of all diamonds graded by the GIA. Among those classified as pink, only a very small percentage have a color intense enough to be classified as “Fancy Vivid Pink,” most of which weigh less than 1 carat. It is estimated that vivid pink diamonds make up a fraction of 0.0001% of the world’s diamond supply.

At over ten carats, this stone is among the rarest ever, comparable to the famous pink diamonds that have set records at international auctions: the Williamson Pink Star (11.15 carats) sold by Sotheby’s Hong Kong in 2022 for $57.7 million and the Eternal Pink (10.57 carats) sold by Sotheby’s New York in 2023 for $34.8 million.

The Glowing Rose, a magnificent 10.08-carat Fancy Vivid Pink diamond, comes from a 21-carat rough diamond responsibly mined in Angola in 2023 and traded under the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. To best enhance the diamond’s color saturation and brilliance, a cushion cut was chosen (it is the third vivid pink cushion-cut diamond over 10 carats to come to market in the last 10 years) as its rounded corners and unique facet arrangement amplify the depth and warmth of the hue.

It will be sold on November 12 as part of Sotheby’s fine jewelry auction at the Mandarin Oriental in Geneva, with an estimated value of approximately $20 million / 16 million Swiss francs. Prior to the auction, The Glowing Rose will be exhibited in Singapore on October 17 and 18 and in Taipei on October 23 and 24, in a setting specially designed by British jeweler Boodles, one of the world’s leading suppliers of pink diamonds, featuring a geometric star motif on the claw, which rises from the finger and is set with Argyle pink diamonds to mirror the gem. The platinum band features baguette-cut and brilliant-cut white diamonds that flow around the finger. A subtle chevron pattern of pink diamonds at the end of the row of white diamonds adds a finishing touch.
