Confindustria Federorafi: Maria Cristina Squarcialupi eletta presidente

Al centro del suo mandato inclusione, sostenibilità ed export

L’Assemblea di Confindustria FEDERORAFI, riunitasi a Vicenza, ha eletto Maria Cristina Squarcialupi alla Presidenza della Federazione per il quadriennio 2025-2029. L’associazione rappresenta le imprese industriali del comparto orafo, argentiero, gioielliero e del corallo e cammeo italiano, un settore che impiega oltre 33.000 addetti e genera un fatturato di 12,7 miliardi di euro (dato 2024), con una quota export pari all’85%.
Imprenditrice aretina, Squarcialupi è Presidente di UNOAERRE Industries S.p.a. e Consigliere delegato di CHIMET S.p.a.. Laureata in Chimica e dottorata in Scienze per la Conservazione dei Beni Culturali presso l’Università di Firenze, succede a Claudia Piaserico, giunta al termine del suo mandato.
“Sono felice ed emozionata per la nomina – dichiara la neo Presidente – e consapevole della rilevanza che la Federazione ha acquisito negli ultimi anni, così come delle non facili sfide che il nostro settore deve affrontare. Ringrazio di cuore Claudia Piaserico per il lavoro straordinario svolto nel suo quadriennio insieme ai Vicepresidenti e al Consiglio: un’eredità importante da cui partire”.


Squarcialupi ha rivolto un ringraziamento anche agli imprenditori del settore, dalle piccole realtà ai principali brand, per la fiducia accordata: “Un endorsement che mi responsabilizza ancora di più a consolidare e rilanciare il ruolo dell’Associazione nei confronti dei nostri stakeholder nazionali e internazionali”.


Tra i molti impegni che attendono la nuova presidenza, in un momento storico caratterizzato da una congiuntura internazionale sfavorevole per le tensioni geopolitiche, per l’escalation delle quotazioni delle materie prime preziose, per l’incremento dei dazi statunitensi e altri atteggiamenti protezionistici che rendono ancora più aspra la concorrenza internazionale, un export in rallentamento nel periodo gennaio–agosto 2025 (-14,4% sul 2024), Squarcialupi individua alcune priorità: “Inclusione e dialogo tra aziende di ogni dimensione e tra generazioni, per rafforzare coesione e rappresentanza lungo l’intera filiera; una sostenibilità realmente ‘sostenibile’ e diffusa, fondata su standard condivisi, disciplinari uniformi e strumenti concreti per tutte le imprese; l’incremento della reputazione e della credibilità del Fare Italiano orafo-gioielliero sui mercati internazionali, valorizzando qualità, design, innovazione e l’heritage produttivo del nostro Paese. […] L’Italia – osserva – è il più importante Paese trasformatore europeo e il terzo al mondo dopo India e Cina. Abbiamo tutte le carte in regola per essere leader nell’anticipare e gestire i cambiamenti in atto e per intercettare le nuove esigenze dei consumatori.
In questo scenario, il nostro impegno sarà concludere e replicare le molte iniziative già avviate con i nostri interlocutori governativi, dall’ambito tecnico e normativo a quello fiscale, della comunicazione e della promozione, avviando al contempo nuovi progetti. Confidiamo in uno sforzo comune da parte di imprese e istituzioni per ottenere risposte rapide, efficienti e orientate alla semplificazione. – e aggiunge – Il comparto del prezioso italiano – aggiunge – possiede un patrimonio unico di inventiva, saper fare, cultura, innovazione e sostenibilità che va promosso e valorizzato con ancora maggiore forza”.


In linea con la volontà di dare continuità alla governance, Squarcialupi ha scelto di apportare modifiche minime alla squadra dei Vicepresidenti per entrare subito nel merito dei dossier più urgenti.
 La Presidente conclude poi con un messaggio di fiducia: “Con il supporto delle imprese, degli operatori della filiera – dagli affinatori della materia prima agli operatori della distribuzione e ai provider fieristici – non posso che guardare con fiducia al futuro. Il gioiello ‘bello e ben fatto’ Made in Italy è stato e continuerà a essere riconosciuto come il pivot mondiale della manifattura del prezioso”.

Confindustria Federorafi: Squarcialupi elected president

Inclusion, sustainability, and exports at the heart of her mandate

The Confindustria FEDERORAFI Assembly, meeting in Vicenza, elected Maria Cristina Squarcialupi as president of the Federation for the four-year period 2025-2029. The association represents industrial companies in the Italian gold, silver, jewelry, coral, and cameo sectors, which employ over 33,000 people and generate a turnover of €12.7 billion (2024 data), with exports accounting for 85% of this figure.
An entrepreneur from Arezzo, Squarcialupi is President of UNOAERRE Industries S.p.a. and Managing Director of CHIMET S.p.a.. With a degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Conservation Sciences from the University of Florence, she succeeds Claudia Piaserico, who has reached the end of her term. “I am happy and excited about the appointment,” said the new President, “and aware of the importance that the Federation has acquired in recent years, as well as the difficult challenges that our sector faces. I would like to sincerely thank Claudia Piaserico for the extraordinary work she has done over the past four years together with the Vice Presidents and the Board: an important legacy from which to start.“ Squarcialupi also thanked the entrepreneurs in the sector, from small businesses to major brands, for their trust: “This endorsement makes me even more determined to consolidate and relaunch the Association’s role vis-à-vis our national and international stakeholders.”
Among the many challenges facing the new presidency, at a time marked by an unfavorable international economic climate due to geopolitical tensions, rising prices for precious raw materials, increased US tariffs, and other protectionist measures that are making international competition even fiercer, as well as a slowdown in exports in the period January–August 2025 (-14.4% on 2024), Squarcialupi identifies a number of priorities: “Inclusion and dialogue between companies of all sizes and between generations, to strengthen cohesion and representation throughout the entire supply chain; truly ‘sustainable’ and widespread sustainability, based on shared standards, uniform regulations, and concrete tools for all companies; enhancing the reputation and credibility of Italian goldsmithing and jewelry on international markets, promoting the quality, design, innovation, and manufacturing heritage of our country.”


“Italy,” Squarcialupi observes, “is the most important European processing country and the third largest in the world after India and China. We have everything it takes to be leaders in anticipating and managing the changes underway and in identifying new consumer needs. In this scenario, our commitment will be to conclude and replicate the many initiatives already launched with our government partners, from technical and regulatory to fiscal, communication, and promotion, while also launching new projects. We are confident that businesses and institutions will work together to achieve rapid, efficient, and simplification-oriented responses,“ she adds. ”The Italian jewelry sector has a unique heritage of inventiveness, know-how, culture, innovation, and sustainability that must be promoted and enhanced with even greater force.”
In line with the desire to provide continuity in governance, Squarcialupi has chosen to make minimal changes to the team of Vice Presidents “in order to immediately address the most urgent issues.” The President concludes with a message of confidence: “With the support of businesses and operators in the supply chain—from raw material refiners to distributors and trade fair providers—I can only look to the future with confidence.
