IEG: Vicenza, il nuovo padiglione avanza secondo i piani
I lavori di ampliamento del nuovo cuore pulsante di Vicenzaoro procedono come previsto. Con l’obiettivo di migliorare significativamente la funzionalità complessiva della struttura. In termini di tempistica, quindi, previa impiantistica è collaudi, il completamento de “il progetto” – come lo ha definito l’architetto Mario Vescovo, Direttore sede vicentina di IEG e Direttore operations – è previsto entro fine maggio 2026.

Smantellati i vecchi padiglioni 2 e 5, attualmente si sta procedendo alla realizzazione dei muri perimetrali – manca la sesta campata per completare i 21 metri previsti. La prima pietra è stata posata il 12 dicembre 2024 e, secondo il cronoprogramma stabilito, l’opera di riqualificazione, totalmente finanziata da IEG che in essa ha investito circa 60milioni di euro, sarà ultimata nella prima metà del 2026 e vedrà il nuovo cuore pulsante (il lavoro porta la firma del grandearchitetto Volkwin Marg dello Studio GMP di Amburgo) sviluppato su due livelli con una superficie di 22mila mq e tecnologicamente avanzato.
La realizzazione dell’edificio è stata una vera sfida: ha richiesto un approccio multidisciplinare e collaborativo, coinvolgendo diverse figure professionali, e ha dovuto garantire la continuità delle aree espositive circostanti. Per minimizzare l’impatto sui lavori, sono state utilizzate tensostrutture temporanee di ultima generazione, che hanno permesso di mantenere attivi gli spazi espositivi e di garantire un flusso organizzativo senza interruzioni.
L’ampliamento del quartiere fieristico centrale rafforzerà il concetto di boutique show perché sarà di interesse per tutti gli stakeholders, attirando nuovi espositori e visitatori, e creando nuove opportunità di lavoro sia per Vicenzaoro che per l’intera economia vicentina. Inoltre, va sottolineato che per potenziare il business internazionale della community del gioiello, è prevista anche una fermata ferroviaria all’ingresso nord, in vista dei prossimi lavori dell’alta velocità, e un incremento dei posti auto di circa 2.000 unità.

IEG: Vicenza, the New Pavilion Progresses According to Plan
The expansion works on the new beating heart of Vicenzaoro are proceeding as scheduled, with the goal of significantly enhancing the overall functionality of the venue. In terms of timing, pending installation systems and final testing, the completion of “the project” – as architect Mario Vescovo, Director of IEG’s Vicenza headquarters and Director of Operations, called it – is expected by the end of May 2026.
“It’s an emotional experience to see the walls of the new pavilion take shape – a modern, functional structure that will serve as the central exhibition space for the future of Vicenzaoro. It will also boost the other events on the calendar and enhance the congress area,” said IEG President Maurizio Ermeti with pride.
Following the demolition of the old pavilions 2 and 5, work is now underway on the construction of the perimeter walls – only the sixth bay remains to complete the planned 21 meters. The foundation stone was laid on December 12, 2024, and according to the established timeline, the redevelopment project – fully funded by IEG, with an investment of around 60 million euros – will be completed in the first half of 2026. The new heart of the venue, designed by renowned architect Volkwin Marg of Hamburg-based GMP Studio, will span two levels with a technologically advanced area of 22,000 square meters.
The construction of the building has been a true challenge: it required a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, involving various professionals and ensuring the continuity of the surrounding exhibition areas. To minimize the impact on ongoing activities, state-of-the-art temporary tensile structures were used, allowing the exhibition spaces to remain operational and ensuring uninterrupted organizational flow.
The expansion of the central exhibition district will reinforce the boutique show concept, appealing to all stakeholders by attracting new exhibitors and visitors and creating new job opportunities for both Vicenzaoro and the wider Vicenza economy. It is also worth noting that to enhance international business for the jewelry community, plans include a new railway stop at the northern entrance in preparation for the upcoming high-speed rail project, along with an increase of about 2,000 parking spaces.
“At the September 2025 edition of Vicenzaoro, buyers and exhibitors will witness further progress on the architectural project, with construction continuing in parallel with the event, without interfering with its execution – just as it happened during the last two editions,” concluded Maurizio Ermeti.
